OVHcloud AI Endpoints: our review
OVHcloud AI Endpoints offers more than forty open models (Llama, Qwen, DeepSeek...) via an API billed per token, with processing announced from a data center in Europe. Built for a technical team that wants a French provider rather than one of the American giants.
What we take away from it
What counts in its favor
- OVHcloud explicitly announces processing from its Gravelines data center in France, and a zero-retention policy: "we only keep what is necessary for billing".
- More than forty models in the catalog, with a price per million tokens shown for each model, and some moderation models free in beta.
- The vendor states that data is never used to train or improve its models, and a 200 € trial credit is offered on first Public Cloud projects.
What counts against it
- SecNumCloud is not qualified for this specific service: OVHcloud announces it wants to extend the qualification to its most recent AI offerings, with no published date. The product page speaks of a platform "certified ISO27000, SOC and health data" without specifying the exact scope of that last mention.
- No graphical interface: it's an API to integrate, not a finished product for a non-technical user.
- Per-token billing varies widely from one model to another (from free to several euros per million tokens) with no visible cost simulator on the catalog page: a budget forecast requires testing before committing.
A credible French provider for an open-model API processed in Europe, best reserved for technical teams and worth re-checking before any use that would formally require SecNumCloud.

OVHcloud AI Endpoints in detail
OVHcloud AI Endpoints gives access to more than forty open models — Llama, Qwen, DeepSeek and others — through an API billed per token consumed. The publisher is a French hosting provider, founded in 1999, that builds this offering on its own infrastructure rather than on cloud capacity rented from a third party.
The catalogue and per-token billing
The principle: one API call per request, one rate per million tokens depending on the model chosen. A small model like Qwen3.5-9B costs around €0.10 per million input tokens and €0.15 for output; a much heavier model like Qwen3.5-397B-A17B climbs to €0.60 and €3.60. A few content-moderation models, still in beta, are free. The catalogue covers text, vision, embeddings for document indexing, and speech synthesis or recognition. A €200 credit is offered on first Public Cloud projects, enough to test before committing.
What's been verified about hosting
AI Endpoints' product page doesn't say where the models run; it's the official launch announcement, published on OVHcloud's corporate site, that specifies it: the service is deployed from the Gravelines data centre, in France, and "data is hosted in Europe and protected against non-European regulations." The publisher adds that it never uses data to train or improve its models, and announces zero retention beyond what serves billing. On certification, however, caution is warranted: the product page mentions an "underlying platform certified ISO27000, SOC and health data", but no SecNumCloud qualification is claimed for this specific service. OVHcloud has indeed qualified other parts of its Public Cloud for SecNumCloud, and states it wants to extend the approach to its most recent AI offerings — with no qualification date published for AI Endpoints so far.
Where it falls short
Three reservations. First, SecNumCloud certification is missing for this specific service, which rules AI Endpoints out of markets that formally require it today. Second, as with any provider of this kind, there's no interface: it's a technical building block to integrate, not a product for a non-developer user. Third, the price gap between models is significant and no cost simulator appears on the catalogue page: better to cost out real usage before budgeting a project.
Our recommendation
For a technical team that wants a French provider with processing announced in Europe, AI Endpoints is a serious option to compare against Scaleway before choosing, notably as part of an internal AI agent. If your need is immediate SecNumCloud certification, or a no-code product to install, this isn't the right choice: our automation services offer more suitable support.
Who it's for, and who it isn't
Suited for
- Development team that wants a French provider for its calls to an open language model, without an in-house hosting effort
- Technical SME that compares several per-token providers and prefers processing announced in Europe over processing in the United States
Not a fit
- Organization with no developer: AI Endpoints is an API, not a ready-to-use conversational agent
- Organization that must justify a SecNumCloud certification for this specific service today
Frequently asked questions
- Do you need to code to use OVHcloud AI Endpoints?
- Yes. It's an API to call from your own application, with no chat interface provided. Without a developer, the tool remains unusable in practice.
- Is my data processed in Europe?
- According to OVHcloud's official announcement, yes: the service is deployed from the Gravelines data center in France, and the vendor states it protects data against non-European regulations.
- Is AI Endpoints SecNumCloud-qualified?
- Not to date. OVHcloud has qualified other building blocks of its Public Cloud for SecNumCloud and announces it wants to extend the approach to its most recent AI offerings, with no qualification date published for AI Endpoints.
- How much does a model like Llama or Qwen cost at OVHcloud?
- The rate depends on the model: Qwen3.5-9B charges about 0.10 € per million tokens in and 0.15 € out, against 0.60 € and 3.60 € for Qwen3.5-397B, considerably heavier. Some moderation models are free in beta.
- What's the difference with Scaleway?
- Both are French hosting companies that bill per token and announce processing in Europe. OVHcloud highlights a wider catalog and explicit zero retention; Scaleway has already begun its SecNumCloud qualification process. Neither has obtained it to date.
